Lucknow: In a major administrative move, Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police Rajeev Krishna ordered strict action against several police officials following a high-level review meeting held at the state police headquarters.
During the meeting, which was attended by senior officials including Police Commissioners, ADGs of Zones, IGs and DIGs of Ranges, and SSPs/SPs of districts through video conferencing, concerns were raised over the increasing number of road accidents in certain police station areas.
Taking serious note of the situation, the DGP ordered that five Station House Officers be sent to the police lines. These include Deepak Kumar (Cholapur Police Station, Varanasi Commissionerate), Jitendra Singh (Campierganj Police Station, Gorakhpur), Vishnukant Tiwari (Chhibramau Police Station, Kannauj), Jagdish Prasad Shukla (Ramsanehighat Police Station, Barabanki), and Uday Pratap Singh (Sikrar Police Station, Jaunpur).

In addition, the DGP directed preliminary inquiries against two Deputy Superintendents of Police—Alok Kumar Pathak, Circle Officer (Traffic), Barabanki, and Girendra Kumar Singh, Circle Officer (Traffic), Jaunpur.
The action comes as part of a broader effort to improve accountability and ensure stricter enforcement in areas witnessing a surge in accidents. The DGP emphasized the need for proactive policing and directed officials to take effective measures to control such incidents.
